LETTERS
TO THE
REPUBLIC

Missing point on Moore

Dear Republic:

You misssed the point. Yes others know that the rabbit hole goes much deeper, but the movie was to show Americans, not the rest of the world (whom you've ponted out allready know better). Showing how Americans can join the military without realizing what they are getting into was rather important. A very large point of the movie was that we have all been fucked around with this false sense of fear and that you don't have to follow your government to be patriotic. Maybe you should make your own movie. then you could say whatever you want.

Is it Moore vitriol?

Dear Republic:

I wish I had time to write to this guy and thank him for not again besmirching the name of ALL Americans because of the actions of others--countries don't kill people, people kill people. I wonder how many Inuits Canadians killed, or how many baby seals they clubbed??? Your logic that "Americans" deserve whatever fate brings because the actions of the Few parallels perfectly the logic of Bushco, or Ariel Sharon, for example, when he or his kind justify collective punishment--if the author of this article isn't part of the solution, he's part of the problem. How nice to sit back in the great white north and bash "the Americans"-BIGOTS! bigots and simpletons. Life's not so simple. And as if there are no right-wing crazy Canadians.

Michael Moore made a movie--why don't you make your own movie and talk about all the important points you'd like to address?  Should Michael Moore have made, say, a 5 hour movie to satisfy you?  What exactly are you doing?  You're griping and being aaaalllll superior.  Aren't you worldly and sophisticated!  I have news for you, what happens here happens to us all--I suggest you get busy doing something constructive instead of patting the back of your smug wonderful hateful self.

- Jean Robertson, Cleveland Ohio

Have Moore respect

Dear Republic:

You are right, the film Fahrenheit 9/11 did not go far enough. It is a start. The world hates America with a passion. That is a fact now and for good reason. But the American public does not care. I hear it everyday,"Who cares what they think;" "the hell with the Europeans;" "screw those Arabs;" "nuke them all". This is what I mostly hear from those pathetic Americans. The problem is more than Bush and his regime, it is a problem that is embedded in our disgraceful national mentality. We are a sick, violent, nationalistic, arrogant, ignorant nation (not all of us but the people in the govrenment, and enough citizens to enable Bush to pull it off). Bush has just brought our true colors to the fore for the world to see. Until we educate our young without all the above poison, we will continue to be the murderous nation we are sanctioned by it's people.
