Simple explanations

Dear Republic:
There is a simple explanation for how and why the three WTC buildings dropped into their own footprint. Although such things were unknown unless there was a prepared demolition, there had been eight years for the best demolition experts to plan, arrange and execute the reality of what happened.
The first attempt on the WTC was an underground parking explosion on February 26, 1993. Anyone who considered the possible consequences would understand that, if successful, it would have resulted in the building toppling and causing unbelievable destruction and chaos. In the intervening eight years it would have been easy for a national authority to rig the explosives to prevent such a disaster.
As for the denial of conspiracy theories, I lived through the development and delivery of the atomic bomb and how it was possible for this to have been done without public knowledge is simple. Despite the thousands of people involved as scientists, engineers, builders, observers, etc, none revealed this most secret of bombs because they all believed that it was in their best interest and in the best interest of their nation. Is there any doubt that the current administration could convince those involved in the destruction of the WTC that it would be in the best interest of the US and the world to do so? Think Rumsfield, Cheney and Rove!

Fine article by Tavis Dodds about the Orwellian nightmare we're heading towards as a society [I, Terrorist, issue 187].
Just to correct him however, Gandhi never suggested that the German Jews commit suicide, rather, he proposed that the Jews in Germany declare themselves to be as German as the tallest, blondest, Gentile and stand their ground fearlessly as patriotic Germans in defiance of those who wished to persecute them for bogus reasons.

Dear Republic:
I have perused your paper on many an occasion. I am a Via Rail Canada employee for many years. I am proud to be a federal passenger rail employee. I request that you not reefer to our premise as the Pacific Central Bus Depot. I am bothered by the fact that you reefer to the Via Rail Station as the Pacific Central "Bus Depot." It is a railway station. It was originally constructed in 1917 as the Canadian Northern Train Station. And later became the Canadian National Train Station after the federal government took over the building.
Presently it is owned by the Canadian Government:m Via Rail Canada. You of all people should respect this. I am surprised that you are not already aware of the proper proprietor. I am willing to overlook this error and move on with my life (and continue to watch Star Trek re-runs and so forth) if you simply correct this blunder.
