What can potential employers find out on employment history and credit report?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

I just got offered a position but it is contingent upon employment history check and a credit report. I quit the last job I had without much of a notice because of personal family issues and I was no longer able to work and I told my boss that. Will this hurt my chances of officially getting this new job? What all do they need ask on employment history and credit reports?? I’m a little nervous I might not get this job…

Thanks!

How far back do background checks look at employment records?

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I have lots of years of employment history, lots of different places as I’m the mother of 4.

How far back, in years, will a potential employer check employment records? 7 years? I didn’t indicate employment going way back as I started working full time in 1978.

Thanks.
I checked my credit report and all 3 reports only show the past 7 years. Is that what they use to check?

How important is employment history when getting a home loan?

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

For myself, I just graduated college and in the process of looking for a job. Once I find one I plan on trying to get a home loan. I have no employment history because I was going to college. So will they take that into consideration?

For my fiance, he worked in the hotel industry for 4 years but recently went into the health industry because they paid more. He has been working there for 4 months. Will that be a problem for us because he is in a new line of employment?

Thanks
